The second-most populous state in India, Maharashtra, is home to several wonderful locations.

The kilometer-long Marine Drive promenade and the Gothic Victorian Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus quickly come to mind when you hear the name “Maharashtra.” Both of these places are well-known in Mumbai. But this very famous state in India has much more to offer like its pristine beaches, fanciful hill stations, tough climbs, strawberry farms, wildlife reserves, pilgrimage sites, rich history, mouthwatering cuisine, and vibrant culture.

Here is a list of ten of Maharashtra’s most picturesque cities, which range from serene white-sand beach towns with historic temples to lush mountain towns devoid of pollution.

1. Mumbai

Mumbai is the ideal starting point for a wonderful tour to Maharashtra. It is a megacity in every aspect, driven by prosperity, fame, power, and beauty. 

The city also boasts top-notch British landmarks, architecture, a coastline, places of worship, and, most notably, a veritable galaxy of celebrities where Bollywood reigns supreme. Additionally, it has a long history with the British Isles.

The Gateway of India, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Marine Drive, the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple, Haji Ali, and many more modern and traditional landmarks can be found in Mumbai. 

2. Mahabaleshwar

A charming hill town noted for its natural beauty and, of course, strawberries are the mystical Mahabaleshwar. 

Its old-world charm has increasingly made way for grand structures and overt consumerism. Due to its rising crests, lush valleys, and lovely climate, this hill station is a fantastic idea to visit.

3. Nashik

The holy city, of Nashik, is a favorite place for Hindu pilgrims. Every year, the Kumbh Mela is celebrated in four locations across India and one of those locations is Nashik.

One of the most devoted cities in the nation, it is home to numerous well-known temples. Some famous temples you must visit here include Naroshankar Temple, Saptashrungi, Trimbakeshwar Temple, Sita Gufaa, and Sundarnarayan Temple.

Sula Vineyards, Fratelli, Grova Zampa, Soma Vine Village, York Winery, and Chandon, which is the newest addition, are just a few of the largest vineyards and wineries in the nation that are located in Nashik.

4. Lonavala

Maharashtra’s popular hill station, There are several tourist attractions in Lonavala, including lovely waterfalls, adorable lakes, forts, and more. The area is so serene and beautiful that it also contrasts with Mumbai’s bustling metropolis.

6. Pune
